Benefits of Nature

The 2021 survey by the State of Mental Health in America indicated a significant increase in people seeking professional help for depression, and it’s not unreasonable to think that many of these people are employed and bringing their depression to work. This can lead to physical health concerns, absenteeism, increased substance abuse and loss of productivity.

We don’t have a magic cure for depression, but perhaps we have the next best thing: a guided hike in the wondrous Yosemite National Park that is the ultimate corporate retreat. It can be a team-building but highly personal experience, connecting with nature and recharging the mind and body.

A study in Finland showed that simply sitting in nature led to a psychological restoration, and this phenomenon occurred even faster when walking in nature. University of Michigan researchers discovered that individuals who took walks in nature scored 20% higher on memory tests.

Not convinced? Other studies have shown that when exposed to nature, patients recovering from surgery require less pain medication and recover faster. It improves concentration. A Japanese research team even found that women who were in the woods for six hours increased their number of white blood cells, which fight viruses.

We can conduct our popular, standard corporate retreat or customize the event to your desires.

Naturalist and early environmentalist John Muir understood what a walk in the woods truly meant: “I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.” Into his heart and soul, he meant, which surely is a salve for employee morale.
